A FUND FOR WYOMING’S FUTURE
The Wyoming Wildlife Heritage Fund is committed to conserving Wyoming’s wildlife and wild places by preserving the future of the WYldlife Fund and advancing the strategic mission of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
About the Fund
For over a century, the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to protecting Wyoming’s iconic wildlife through dedicated conservation and management efforts. As the non-profit partner of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, the WYldlife Fund honors this legacy and strives to ensure the continued preservation of our state’s natural heritage. To further this mission, we have established the Wyoming Wildlife Heritage Fund, an endowment created by Sam Johnson. This fund is dedicated to securing the long-term sustainability of the WYldlife Fund, providing essential support to the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission, and enabling us to carry forward the mission of wildlife conservation for generations to come.
Invest in Our Future, Invest in Wyoming’s Wildlife
The Wyoming Wildlife Heritage Fund is more than just a financial resource; it is a promise to the future. By creating a stable and enduring financial foundation, we can support ongoing conservation projects, research initiatives, and educational programs that are crucial to maintaining the health and diversity of Wyoming’s ecosystems. Join us in preserving our natural heritage and ensuring a vibrant future for the WYldlife Fund.

Vision/Mission
Our goal is to build a lasting endowment that will provide the WYldlife Fund with the financial resilience needed to adapt and thrive amidst challenges. Through this endowment, we aim to provide enduring support and resources for wildlife-focused projects endorsed by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. With the generous contributions from supporters who share our vision, we are committed to protecting Wyoming’s wildlife and wild places, ensuring they remain vibrant and accessible for future generations to experience and enjoy.
Thanks to current resources, we have been able to support key initiatives of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department that make a significant impact, including:
- Wildlife Crossings: Developing safe passageways to reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions and enhance habitat connectivity.
- Wildlife-Friendly Fencing: Installing fences designed to be more navigable for wildlife, minimizing harm and loss while effectively managing land use.
- Inspire a Kid Programming: Engaging youth in conservation efforts led by the department and fostering a lifelong connection to nature.
- Species-Specific Funding: Providing targeted resources for the conservation of particular species.
With continued support, we can expand our funding to sustain these vital projects and address additional wildlife-driven needs across the state. Together, we can ensure that the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s management and conservation needs are met, and continue to provide support for Wyoming’s natural treasures for generations to come.
“Without the cooperation of the citizens of this state the protection of our wild game would ultimately prove a failure. I believe that the people have just begun to realize the importance of our wild game and fish, and it is high time that our game and fish should be recognized, as it is one of the greatest assets we have in the State of Wyoming.”
BRUCE NOWLIN, a game warden and commissioner that established foundational rules and understandings for the WGFD. Written in his 1921-22 biennial report.
