On June 4th, 2022 The WYldlife Fund partnered with Maury Brown and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department to host the first Maury Brown Kids Fishing Day at the Iron Mountain Ranch outside of Cheyenne. Working with organizations such as Youth Alternatives, the Boys and Girls Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters, over 250 kids were recruited to sign up and come out for a day of fishing, education and fun. In total, over 600 individuals participated which included parents, family members and volunteers.
Thanks to our partnership with Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s, every single kid who attended went home with a fishing pole and fully stocked tackle box. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department hosted educational booths for families to interact with and fish cleaning stations were also available for participants.
This was an all hands on deck team effort which changed lives! Many of the youth participants had never fished before. Memories were made which will last a lifetime. Thanks to Maury Brown’s generous and caring heart, this was all possible.
Empowering the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts and leaders is perhaps the most important thing we can be doing for Wyoming’s natural resources, and The WYldlife Fund is all in.
We thank the following individuals and groups who made this day possible: Maury Brown, Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Kathryn Boswell, Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s, Brian Tyrell & Family, Cowboy Sanitation, Pat Crank & Family and Sporting Lead-Free.
